Camp Cheerio is a wonderful place for a child to experience fun and learn new skills in a traditional camp setting. We sent our son their for 5 years of two-week sessions. He would start counting the days until next year as we pulled away from camp. The camp is in a beautiful mountain setting with lots of open space and mountain views. The air-conditioned cabins are spaced around the edges of camp by age groups and none are very far from the dining hall or gym. The cabins are furnished with standard wooden bunks and cubbies. Many campers bring camp trunks which store under the bottom bunks. Each cabin is staffed by senior counselors, junior counselors and often, counselors-in-training so there is a great staff to camper ratio. The older staff are often college students with lots of enthusiasm and caring attitudes. There is a wide range of daily activities for campers to do-swimming, canoeing, climbing, horseback riding, sports, arts and crafts- but the big fun comes at night with all-camp games of tag, carnival, talent show and others. Each evening ends with vespers in the cabins to review the day. This is an all-around great camp. I highly recommend it.
